FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

What MERRE does, what it costs, how the AI planner behaves and where your travel record actually lives.

The basics

MERRE is a travel map and trip planner app for your phone. It records the countries, cities, regions, airports and places you have visited, then uses that history to build a day-by-day plan for your next trip. Everything is kept on one private map that lives on your device first.

Yes. The world map, Been, Lived and Wish statuses, saved places and local travel history are available without MERRE+. MERRE+ adds eligible premium AI features and entitlement-controlled cloud backup. Current localized price, billing period, trial eligibility and offer terms are shown by Google Play before purchase.

MERRE+ is the optional premium tier. It adds eligible advanced AI planning and entitlement-controlled cloud backup. The map, travel statuses and saved places remain available without MERRE+. Current localized transaction terms are shown by Google Play before purchase.

MERRE has a Google Play listing for Android; availability can vary by country, device and release track. An App Store listing is not currently linked from this site.

Your map

You mark them on your map. Open a country, city, region, airport or place and set it to Been, Lived or Wish. The map fills in as you travel, so you always have a clear record of where you have been and what is still on the list.

It covers the same idea and keeps going. Like a scratch map it fills in the places you have been, but it also records cities, regions, airports and individual places, keeps trips, dates and photos attached to them, and turns that history into a plan for the next trip. Nothing has to be scratched off by hand.

Yes. Photos go into private albums attached to the trip and the places they belong to. They are yours to look back on. MERRE has no public feed and no followers, so albums are not published to anyone.

MERRE joins both sides. A journal remembers the past and a saved-places list holds ideas, but MERRE turns your recorded travel history into the plan for the next trip, and keeps trips, dates, companions and photos with the places on one map. It is not a public feed and there are no followers.

Planning a trip

You pick a destination, set dates or just a duration, say who is coming and where you sleep, choose your pace and budget, and describe the feeling you want. MERRE then returns an editable day-by-day itinerary with stop cards and travel times between stops, viewable as a timeline or on the map. Your saved places and travel history shape the suggestions.

Treat them as a starting point. AI output is probabilistic, so opening hours, routes, prices and availability can be wrong or out of date. Verify anything you rely on before booking or travelling. Every itinerary stays fully editable, so you can change any stop, day or route.

Privacy

Yes. MERRE is local-first: your map, travel statuses, saved places and trip history are stored on your device first. Free accounts have no travel-data cloud backup. While a server-verified MERRE+ subscription is active, approved travel categories are included automatically in bounded cloud backup; excluded local-only categories remain on your device. Generating an itinerary, restoring a backup and processing a subscription also use servers, and the Privacy Notice explains those uses.

No. Location permission is optional, and your current location, map preferences, saved map locations and device-derived location state stay on the device. MERRE is not a background location-tracking product, and nothing about your movement is published or shared with other users.

No. There is no public feed, no followers and no likes. Your map, your trips and your albums are yours, and nothing you record is published to other users.

Your saved map, trips and places open without a connection, because they are stored on the device. Creating a new AI itinerary, restoring a cloud backup or managing a subscription needs internet.
